Bridge Arts & Culture deliver numerous workshops and courses throughout the year.
“In October Triangle Centre hosted the Windrush Project. The team worked in a drop in session with a group of parents and children; with children in after school provision and with Older and Bolder, Triangle’s group of older local residents who meet in Triangle Centre every week. During October half term the group worked with holiday play provision children every morning. The children were so motivated by the project they even forsook their computers! There was 100percent, non-compulsory, attendance by the children every day. At the end of the week the children performed their piece for Older and Bolder in what proved to be a very emotional event. At the end of the performance the children asked the older people, many of whom are of West Indian origin, some very insightful questions which highlighted how much they had learned during the project.
We were eager to be part of the project because there is little or no local support for exploration of the subject with the children. It was evident the creative element of the project brought to life the subject for the children and enabled them to explore their own creativity.
The whole project was a joy, staff were motivated and motivating. Sessions with the different groups were engaging and much enjoyed by all. After the project children began to devise their own creative stories which they presented to the rest of the group. The older people were touched by the children`s interest in their life stories.”

“Queens Park Community School booked the workshop 'Windrush' as part of our Black History Month events. We had worked with Bridge Arts before and felt that this was the perfect company for us.
The pupils involved were enthusiastic from the outset. The workshop was entertaining and engaging with a range of different activities which involved all kinds of learners. It was an accessible workshop for all, but also provided challenging questions for our young people and really engaged their thoughts and imagination. This was evident in their final performances at the end of the workshop.
Pupils wrote positively about the workshop in the school newsletter. It also informed their understanding of The Windrush generation which was used as a basis for creative writing tasks such as poetry, short stories and diary entries.
The workshop also helped pupils from all backgrounds to develop a shared understanding of what the current older Windrush generation experienced in that time and how it informs many of the values held today.”

“It has been the first time my 3 year old has dragged me to a holiday workshop - usually I am called on Day 2 to pick him up. But he adored it the Halloween Storytelling Adventures and skipped in every morning!!
Katie, the fun course leader, kept the kids fully occupied for the 2 hours each morning taking them through songs, dances, drama and arts & crafts. He came home with masks, hats, pictures, paintings, one or two lines to learn for the play at the end of the week and singing songs or games he'd learnt in the day. I was incredible what they packed into a morning!
To think of him standing in front of parents playing the dragon in 'Room on the Broom' with lines learnt, and doing a song/dance at the end was beyond my expectations but the kids did an incredible show and even designed all the scenery and outfits themselves. They really glowed with confidence and it was wonderful to see.
